The activist of the Young Front Artsiom Dubski has been placed to the pre-trial prison in Asipovichy in connection with a criminal case for evasion from punishment (personal restraint) that has been brought against him recently. The prosecutor has three days to decide whether to leave the activist in jail or release him under written undertaking not to leave the town.
27.02.2009 Belarusian women demand to stop prosecution of citizens
According to the BelaPAN news agency, over 60 women from across Belarus, convicted for minor offences pertaining to their political activity, have adopted a resolution to the Belarusian authorities urging them to stop criminal prosecution of their compatriots, including the Minsk resident Liudmila Samusenka and Babruisk residents Luidmila Karaulava and Nadzeya Davydava. The former was accused of libel after she addressed the Ministry of the Interior with a request to provide information concerning her personal rights and interests.

On 25 February a court sitting on the criminal case against Yana Paliakova took place at Salihorsk district court. She is charged with violation of article 400, part 2, ‘Knowingly false delation’ that envisages up to five years of imprisonment, saligorsk.org informs.
23.02.2009 Maksim Dashuk prosecuted again
One of the persons involved in the so called ‘case of 14’ Maksim Dashuk has been detained and put to Minsk investigatory detention center. He is accused of violating Article 415 of the criminal Code of Belarus for evading the completion of sentence. He is likely to remain in prison until the trial. The under-aged Maksim Dashuk had previously been sentenced to 18 months of imprisonment for participating in the 10 January 2008 action. According to representatives of the police, Dashuk had repeatedly broken the house arrest regime.

Chairman of the Supreme Court of Belarus said that Emanuel Zeltser, arrested US citizen, was given a copy of the judgment. However, the lawyer of the prisoner refutes this statement.
11.02.2009 Detained entrepreneurs are transferred to prison in Valadarski Street
The term of imprisonment of Uladzimir Asipenka, Mikalai Autukhovich and Yury Liavonau and has been extended for 7 days. Political prisoners have been transferred from the detention centre in Akrestsin Street to the remand prison in Valadarski Street.
10.02.2009 Court directs civil activist for psychiatric expertise
Alexander Zhydkevich, doctor’s assistance in dentistry of Bychykha medical station, is accused of receiving bribes from patients. The criminal case was instigated under Article 433 of the Criminal Code as a result of a complaint in the complaint book, written by a citizen of Bychykha two months after medical treatment. The complaint was written after Alexander Zhydkevich became an independent observer at the local precinct during the latest parliamentary elections.
