12.01.2011 Homel KGB continues searches
The Homel KGB officers searched the apartment of Yury Klimovich, an electioneering agent of the presidential candidate Vital Rymasheuski and a member of the organizing committee of the Belarusian Christian Party. The search was conducted by four persons headed by Captain Andrei Melnikau. They took away Yury’s computer and materials of Rymasheuski’s electoral campaign.
12.01.2011 Brest: search at Zinaida Mikhniuk’s apartment was finally conducted
In the afternoon of 12 January investigators searched the apartment of Zinaida Mikhniuk, an activist of the Trade Union of Radio Electronic Industry. They spent more than 1.5 hours looking through her things, but confiscated only a notebook with phone numbers of activists of the independent trade union. The computer equipment was confiscated from the trade union during the previous search.

According to Vadzim Saranchukou, the Chairperson of the Hrodna branch of the Belarusian Popular Front Party, the search was conducted within the framework of the criminal case concerning the ‘mass riot’ in Minsk on 19 December. The formulation in the warrant ordered the investigators to ‘search the regional headquarters of Kastusiou’, though there’s no such body.

On 12 January morning KGB officers came to the apartment of Viktar Sazonau, an electioneering agent of the presidential candidate Andrei Sannikau and the Chairperson of the Hrodna city branch of the Belarusian Social Democratic Hramada. Their aim was to hold a search at Hramada’s office.

Ihar Sliadzeuski is the father of Katsiaryna Sliadzeuskaya, a civil activist who was sentenced to 10 days of arrest for participation in the protest rally in Minsk on 19 December. He is also the owner of the apartment that is rented by a civil activist Yury Bakur that was searched in connection with the criminal case upon Article 293 ‘mass riot’.

06.01.2011 KGB continues large-scale search campaign all over Belarus
Belarus is swung with a wave of searches, detentions and interrogations held by KGB within the framework of the criminal case that has been instigated upon Article 293 of the Criminal Code (mass riot) in connection with the 19 December protest rally in the center of Minsk.

One of the leaders of the movement of entrepreneurs, Ales Makayeu, has informed BelaPAN that KGB members searched his flat yesterday. Minsk and Minsk Province KGB members confiscated his system unit. Makayeu will have to visit KGB for an interrogation on 5 January.

The office of the Belarusian Helsinki Committee was searched by KGB officers. A laptop and the organization server were confiscated as a result. After it, the KGB officers went to the apartment of the BHC Chairperson, Aleh Hulak. They also told they would summon him for an interrogation.
04.01.2011 Search at the apartment of BelSat journalist Ales Barazenka
The apartment of Aliaksandr Barazenka, a journalist for the Polish satellite TV channel BelSat was searched as well. Mr. Barazenka managed to inform the BelSat representative Mikhail Yanchuk about it. According to Mr. Yanchuk, the search at Barazenka’s started at 6 a.m. and lasted for about two hours.
