“Viasna” activists join campaign against torture

Activists of the Human Rights Center “Viasna” have joined a campaign against torture, initiated by the Russian NGO “Committee against Torture”. Today, June 26, is marked around the world as the United Nations International Day of Support for the Victims of Torture. This day has been held annually since 1997 to eradicate torture and to secure the effective functioning of the Convention against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment of 1984, which entered into force on 26 June 1987.
