Political prisoner with Polish citizenship deported after his release and banned from entering Belarus
Robert Tompala, a political prisoner with Polish citizenship, was deported after his release and banned from entering Belarus for eight years, dissidentby writes. The man was sentenced for comments on social media to three years of imprisonment, which he served in the Navapolack penal colony No. 1.
The man lived in Belarus since the 90s and was detained in 2023. He was sentenced under Part 1 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code (insulting Lukashenka) and Article 369 of the Criminal Code (insulting government officials) to three years of imprisonment for comments on social media. The political prisoner served his term in the Navapolack penal colony No. 1. In the summer of 2023, he was added to the "list of extremists."
According to dissidentby, the deportation occurred immediately after his release — he was taken to the border under escort. It is known that the man has a son. Robert's family probably stayed in Belarus.
