The Human Rights Center “Viasna”

On 5 December the Barysau human rights defenders Aleh Matskevich and Maryna Statkevich received from the Barysau District Executive Committee a refusal to authorize a picket dated to the 63rd anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Maladechna activist of the Young Front movement Pavel Siarhei is facing expulsion from local polytechnics college, after he served administrative arrest for egging the Lenin monument in Minsk on 7 November.

The head of the sawing plant “Yunona”, Uladzimir Ivanou, warned its workers that they were banned from coming to the central square of Maladechna on Saturday, and they would be fired on Monday if they disobeyed. Many workers were surprised at such a ban, but nobody explained anything to them.

On 1 October opposition activist Siarhei Hirkin was detained at the railway station in Maladechna. He was kept in the transport police station for about an hour. The detention was connected to the festival.

On 13 April an unauthorized mournful action dedicated to the terrorist act in the Minsk metro took place near St. Joseph’s Church in Maladechna. Invitations to this action were distributed through social nets. About one hundred Maladechna residents gathered for the action. No speeches were delivered, people just stood silent for some time.

On 21 March, Maladechna human rights defender Ales Kaputski was summoned to local tax inspection. The activists say the possible inspection is caused by his civil activity.

A resident of Maladechna was the first person who responded to the appeal of Human Rights Defenders of Free Elections. He informed us that the heads of the departments, workshops and shifts of the joint venture Minsk Furniture Center received papers for the account of those who voted: the memo The order of providing information about the pace of voting at the election of President of the Republic f Belarus and the Model of filling of results of elections.

Little time remains till the beginning of voting, but residents of Maladechna can see only the agitation production of Ryhor Kastusiou, Uladzimir Niakliayeu and Andrei Sannikau. It’s quite strange, as signatures in support of presidential candidates were collected in Maladechna by representatives of seven electoral teams besides Lukashenka’s.

On 4 December in Maladechna the police detained four young activists who take part in the electoral campaign of the presidential candidate Ryhor Kastusiou.
