07.07.2011 6 July protest action: list of detained journalists
The following journalists were detained during the protests actions that were held in different towns and cities of Belarus on 6 July:
05.07.2011 Minsk: journalist detained at court
On 4 July the cameraman of the satellite TV channel BelSat Siarhei Kavaliou was detained in the corridor of the Frunzenski District Court of Minsk. He was preparing a report about the trials of the detained participants of the 3 July silent protest action when he was approached by three people in civvies who took him away in unknown direction.
05.07.2011 Andrei Pachobut sentenced to 3 years of jail with 2-year determent
Andrei Pachobut, a journalist for the Polish weekly Gazeta Wyborcza, was tried at the Leninski District Court of Hrodna. He was charged with insult of president (Artice 368, part 1 of the Criminal Code) and libel against president, (Article 367, part 1). The charges under the former articles were dropped.
04.07.2011 Ihar Bantsar sentenced to 10 days of arrest
On 4 July journalist Ihar Bantsar, an activist of the Union of Poles in Belarus, was sentenced to 10 days of jail within closed court proceedings.
01.07.2011 Mazyr: detention of Bulgarian and US journalists
The famous Bulgarian journalist, poet and translator Dimiter Kenarov was wrongly detained by the police in Mazyr on 29 June. The popular networking site Facebook developed an open community where information is gathered about his arrest.
28.06.2011 Verdict in Pachobut’s trial due on 5 July
Hrodna Leninski District Court continues hearing the criminal case of “Gazeta Wyborcza” journalist Andrei Pachobut. The verdict is expected to be pronounced on 5 July.
24.06.2011 Two charges made against Ihar Bantsar
The journalist is accused of petty hooliganism and disobedience to the police.

Officers of court visited the house of Andrzej Poczobut, a Hrodna journalist for Gazeta Wyborcza.
17.06.2011 Andrei Pachobut’s trial to continue on June 23
It has become known that the experts have expanded their conclusion about Pachobut’s articles. The charges used to be listed on two pages and now they take 5. They have given a more detailed explanation of the things that insulted Lukashenka in those articles.
15.06.2011 UPB Activist Ihar Bantsar sentenced to 5 days of arrest
Journalist Andrzej Pisalnik said that Ihar Bantsar, an activist of the Union of Poles in Belarus, was sentenced to five days of arrest.
14.06.2011 Hrodna: journalist Ihar Bantsar detained
Ihar Bantsar’s wife Anzhalika Arehva has informed Euroradio about his detention. According to her, policemen have not informed about the reason for the arrest. Ihar’s whereabouts are unknown now.
06.06.2011 Authorities harass internet activists
Ivan Stasiuk, a civil activist from Brest, was detained on the Belarusian-Polish border and guarded to the local KGB department. The Belarusian border guards took away Ivan’s passport and told him that the document would be returned to him after a “prophylactic talk”.
03.06.2011 Editorial board of independent socio-political website gets evicted from office
The editorial board of the socio-political website ex-press.by, created by journalists of the private socio-political newspaper Kur'yer z Barysava (closed down before the 2006 presidential election), is evicted from the rented office.
