Mahiliou court turns down appeal by local BPF Youth activist
Mahiliou Regional Court has dismissed a complaint by Babruisk activist of the Belarusian Popular Front youth wing “BPF Youth” Andrei Padaliak.
Aliaksandr Kuzniatsou, head of the Vitsebsk branch of the BPF Youth (youth wing of the Belarusian Popular Front Party) received a summons to the 9th bureau of the economic crimes department of the Vitsebsk region.
Zmitser Parmon, an activist of the BPF Youth, has received from the Tsentralny District Procuracy of Minsk an answer to his request to bring a criminal case against the policemen who had beaten him during the detention on 27 May.
On 13 June, two activists of the Belarusian Popular Front Party, Aliaksandr Harasiuk and Pavel Sevastsyan, were detained by a road policeman while going to the city park by pavement. He demanded that they got into his car for drawing a report about a violation of the traffic rules.
On 27 May, the police violently dispersed a bicycle rally organized by activists of the BPF Youth. Several participants of the action were detained and beaten. One of them, Zmitser Parmon, was taken to clinical hospital #6 with fracture of a clavicle.
About 30 young democratic activists were detained by police as a result of the violent dispersal of the St. Valentine Day action in the center of Minsk. Riot policemen grabbed them by hands and feet and threw into paddy wagons. Two hours after the detention the police released the detainees without giving any charges.
