Activist Viktar Syrytsa received today a letter signed by the deputy chairman of the executive committee of Baranavichy Dzmitry Kastsiukevich. It reports that the city authorities do not give permission for the rally on March 25, 2013, dedicated to the 95th anniversary of the independence of the Belarusian People's Republic.
19.03.2013 Mahiliou authorities ban Freedom Day festivities
Mrs. Ala Halushka, head of the ideology department of Mahiliou city executive committee, told local pro-democratic activists about the reasons to ban public celebrations on the occasion of the 95th anniversary of the Belarusian National Republic. It turns out that such activities should be included in the annual plan. If there is no such event in the plan, the authorities cannot help.

The presentation of the book "By the local history paths of Zelva area" by Siarhei Chyhryn was to have taken place at Zelva district library on 15 March. It is the first such detailed book concerning the history and local core studies of Zelva and the surrounding areas. The author tells interesting details about famous people of Zelva region, the events which took place there for the last 200 years and his talented contemporaries living there.
13.03.2013 Civil activists of Vitsebsk litigate with medics
The chief physician of Vitsebsk central city polyclinic refused to conclude service agreements with the organizers of the street rallies planned for 25 March. The head of Vitsebsk regional branch of the "For Freedom" movement Khrystafor Zhaliapau applied to court, asking to oblige the medics to conclude a service agreement with him. The preliminary hearings on the case took place on 12 March at Kastrychnitski District Court of Vitsebsk.

Vitsebsk City Executive Committee refused to authorize the rally in honor of the 150th anniversary of the uprising of Kastus Kalinouski, planned by Yan Dziarzhautsau, a member of the Conservative-Christian Party "Belarusian Popular Front".

Yan Dziarzhautsau, member of the Conservative Christian Party “Belarusian Popular Front”, keeps fighting for the right to express his views during pickets and other mass events. The order of these events is regulated by Decision No. 881 by Vitsebsk city executive committee. The opposition activist tried to sue the city’s utilities, an organization that, in his opinion, violates the decision of the executive committee and hinders the implementation of the right to freedom of expression.
25.02.2013 Six months wasted for Minsk Regional Court takes to rule in Young Front activist’s case
Andrei Tychyna, Salihorsk activists of the Young Front opposition movement, has finally received a ruling by Minsk Regional Court, six months after he submitted his appeal to challenge a ban on holding a bike ride. It wasn’t until the case was addressed by representatives of the central office of the Belarusian Helsinki Committee that the struggle of the young opposition activist with the judicial bureaucracy had been put an end to.

The administration of the Minsk-based Doodah King club announced cancellation of a concert scheduled for 18 February and entitled “Bulboks-Live”, which was expected to feature the bands IQ48 and Dai Darohu, Nasha Niva reports referring to the organizers’ account on the social network “VKontakte”.
