02.11.2012 “NO” to death penalty” campaign supported in Simferopol
Simferopol schoolchildren supported the campaign against the use of the death penalty in Belarus. Within the framework of the mobile exhibition “Everyone has the right to know their rights” held in Simferopol at the end of October they signed postcards addressed to Aliaksand Lukashenka with the demand to introduce a moratorium on the death penalty with the subsequent abolition of this kind of punishment.

The Savetski District Tax Inspection of Homel sent a letter to the human rights defender Leanid Sudalenka, according to which he is summoned to the inspection for signing a protocol and participation in administrative proceedings. The matter is that earlier the tax inspection had demanded that he presented an income and assets declarations, which he refused to do.

A concert of the cult punk band from Brest, which was to be held in Sphere club on 3 November, has been canceled. “The club administration told us they were not able to allow the concert. I think they were scared,” band frontman Yury Stylski comments on the situation, Generation.by reports. The group plans to play its next concert at Rock-Khvalia festival in Hrodna on 6 November, but musicians say the concert is at risk.

A court in Zhlobin has once again adjourned the trial in the case of Yauhen Basareuski, member of the "Fair World" Left-wing party, charged under Article 424 of the Criminal Code ("abuse of power or of a position of authority"). Judge Ina Sharshniova of Zhlobin District Court put off the hearing till November 14, without giving any reason.

As we reported earlier, the coordinators of the campaign "For Fair Elections-2012" in Orsha registered a number of violations of the Electoral Code of the Republic of Belarus in electoral districts Nos. 26 and 27. The violations were reported to Orsha Investigative Committee by sending a notice of infringement of Article 54 of the Electoral Code, dealing with voting at the voter’s residence.

Judge Valiantsina Lapatsina of Mahiliou Leninski District Court dismissed yesterday a lawsuit brought by Mikalai Zalozny, local activist of the Belarusian Social Democratic Party (Hramada), who demanded reinstatement in his job as a mechanic in one of the city’s hostels.
