Barys Vyrvich, a journalist in the town of Bialyničy, received on August 15 another letter from political prisoner Mikalai Statkevich, which said that instead of his latest letter the prisoner had received an empty envelope.

In particular, the political prisoner writes: “Got an empty envelope (except for another envelope inside) of your letter marked “Letter has not been passed by the censor.” I really can’t imagine the riotous things that you have written there. I hope you did not use profanity.”

According to Barys Vyrvich, his letter was absolutely harmless - it told the latest news of the Mahilioŭ pro-democratic environment, the general state of affairs in the region, specific attention was paid to the launch of the presidential election campaign. The journalist believes that the censor could not like information saying that many democratic activists of the region had joined the nomination group of Mikalai Statkevich.
