"Living in Truth" of Vaclav Havel translated into Belarusian
In the gallery "Ў" on October 24 took place the presentation of the book of selected essays of Vaclav Havel "Living in Truth." Belarusian version of the book was released by the publishing house "Lohvinau."
The book, published in the series "The Czech Collection", contains seven programmatic essay of the public figure and politician, the last president of Czechoslovakia and first president of the Czech Republic - Vaclav Havel. Essays cover both the period when the playwright was a dissident and president. Also published "Declaration of Charter 77", in the the creation of which the author was directly involved, as he was one of the founders of the social movement "Charter 77."
Siarhei and Yulia Smatrychenka translated the book into the Belarusian language, preface was written by Liavon Barshcheuski.
Czech Ambassador in Belarus Milan Eckert called Havel a man who was very close to Belarus and who cares about it. Belarus wasn’t an abstract country for him, because he knew a lot about the country, helped in the creation of the Free Theatre, helped Vasil Bykau, personally was in correspondence with the head of the Human Rights Center "Viasna" Ales Bialiatski as well as with politician, presidential candidate Andrei Sannikau.
Presentation of the book "Living in Truth" was held on October 24 in the gallery "Ў" (Niazalezhnastsi av. 37a). During the presentation the Ambassador of the Czech Republic Milan Eckert gave a speech as well there was a scenic reading of one-act play by Vaclav Havel "Protest".
