After 9 p.m. on July 2, Chairman of the civil society organization “Initiative” Aleh Korban and its activist Uladz Siarheyenka were detained by the police.
According to the information of the Human Rights Center “Viasna”, both activists were detained in their apartments and taken to the Partyzanski District Police Department of Minsk. Human rights defenders believe the detentions are connected to the celebration of the official Independence Day (July 3, 1944 the Soviet army freed Belarus from the Nazi troops).
