Judge Anastasia Asipchyk of Minsk’s Zavodski District Court has sentenced opposition activist Illia Dabratvor to an administrative arrest of 10 days.

Illia Dabratvor was detained yesterday when driving his car. He was stopped on suspicion of car theft. However, the police officers then charged the activist with two administrative offences, violation of Article 17.1 of the Administrative Code (disorderly conduct) and Article 23.4 (disobeying the police). Illia Dabratvor was transporting white-red-white flags in his car.

The charges were backed at the trial by police witnesses Piastrak and Kisialiou.

For each article the activist received a punishment of 7 days of arrest, but finally, by partial summation, the judge sentenced him to 10 days in prison.
