A member of the Belarusian Association of Journalists has been taken into custody by Ukrainian border guards, the human rights center Viasna reports.

According to Anatol Hatouchyc, he is suspected of violating the procedure of staying in the border zone.

The journalist came to the border crossing point with the purpose of preparing an article on how the situation at the border changed due to the recent events in Ukraine.

“I approached the shift boss, showed an ID of BelaPAN’s reporters and asked for a comment on the situation at the border today”, - he told.

“The border guard took the ID, went to clarify something, then demanded documents indentifying the personality”, - Anatol added.

Since the reporter did not show the passport together with the journalist ID, he has been detained so the circumstances could be clarified. They are working on it.
