Aliaksei Kulik, activist of the Belarusian LGBT community, was searched by the customs officials while returning from Ukraine this morning.

According to Aliaksei Kulik, he was forced to get off the train and spent three hours at the customs. Meanwhile, the official paper says the search took only 15 minutes.

During the search, the activist was asked to show the contents of his luggage, computer and flash memory stick, as well as to strip to his underwear. As a result, the officials failed to find any items prohibited for carrying across the border.

The customs personnel said the official cause of the search was a, as those who frequently travel across the border periodically undergo such a procedure. The activist was warned of a possible repeat of such a procedure, if he was going to cross the state border in future.
