Today Is the World Press Freedom Day

The day declares freedom of expression as one of the highest values.

Free press is a cornerstone at the foundation of a civilized state. Society which does not acknowledge this becomes blind and deaf to problems of other people and to one’s own problems.

Traditionally BAJ holds a number of events on this day. This time BAJ is going to announce the results of the annual contest among BAJ members Volnaje Slova (Free Word). Also a discussion is going to take place titled “Prospects for reforming media sphere: what journalistic community can do?” BAJ has sent invitations to its members and other persons representing media sphere, and welcomes anybody willing to participate in the discussion which is about to start at noon at the Minsk Hotel.
