Raman Zabela, activist of the Nash Dom campaign, was detained this morning in the town of Talachyn. The activist was detained at a bus stop on the way to work and taken to the police station. The official reason for the detention is traditional – Raman Zabela reportedly looked like a person suspected of a crime.

Activist Mikalai Petrushenka comments:

“Anything can be the reason for such actions. Raman is known for winning a lawsuit and repulsing the local police department over an alleged offense three years ago. He was charged with illegal flag-waving in the park. In court, the case fell apart... Finally, it is possible that the detention is a preventive one on the eve of the 95th anniversary of the Belarusian People’s Republic in order to prevent his participation in the officially permitted mass event in Minsk.”
