Siarhei Rusetski and Tamara Shchapiotkina, members of the initiative group of Anatol Sakharusha, have addressed the Central Election Commission with a proposal to review a provision of the Electoral Code that requires all the members of the initiative group to sign an appeal in case their nomination has been dismissed.

Under the current electoral legislation, the appeal is not considered by the court in case at least one of the members of the initiative group fails to sign the claim, which was the case of Anatol Sakharusha. Meanwhile, when the nomination is submitted by a political party or employees of an enterprise the appeal may be lodged by any person having the right of signing official papers, i.e. the party’s leader or deputy chairman.
