Zmitser Dashkevich marks birthday in punishment cell
The imprisoned Young Front leader marks his 31st birthday.
Zmitser Dashkevich was arrested ahead of the presidential elections in December 2010. The authorities wanted to prevent him from taking part in protests against the flawed election and organized a provocation against him, In March 2011, Zmitser Dashkevich was sentenced to two years in prison allegedly for beating two men. His prison term ends in December 2012, but the authorities prepare a new criminal case against the politician under article 411 of the Criminal Code (violation of prison rules). His prison term may be extended to one year.
Dashkevich is in a penal colony in Hlubokaye.
