Brest authorities ban pickets
Brest city executive committee has banned a series of picket scheduled for 1-5 October by Viktar Chaikouski, deputy chair of the entrepreneurs’ association “Perspektyva”, Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty reports.
The pickets were expected to campaign for the release of prisoners of conscience. However, Brest executive officials banned the pickets, referring to legal restrictions on picket locations.
Viktar Chaikouski says he is going to appeal the decision, as he received the official reply only 3 (instead of 5) days before the expected date of the first event.
