Maladechna human rights defenders finally received an official reply from the district executive committee to their appeal lodged back on 29 October. However, under the Electoral Code, the reply should have been sent within three days after its submission.

Human rights activists Eduard Balanchuk, Aliaksei Khvostsik and Ales Kaputski, registered as observers by Maladechna district election commission, asked the executive authorities to publish the data on the commission’s formation.

However, according to the executive committee’s chair Fiodar Damatsenka, Article 13 of the Electoral Code does not provide for the possibility.

Eduard Balanchuk believes the approach does not meet the principle of transparency of elections and provides grounds for suspicions of rigging.
