Ivan Kruk and Mikola Ulasevich, members of the United Civil Party from Astravets, have started collecting signatures against construction of a nuclear power plant on the territory of Astravets district.

After the local authorities prohibited a number of anti-nuclear pickets, the activists decided to collect signatures under the demands that the Belarusian authorities and the international community refused from construction of the power plant in order to prevent the possible ecological disaster in one of the cleanest regions of Belarus.

Kruk and Ulasevich have already collected more than 600 signatures of citizens of Astravets district. The petition is signed by labor and war veterans and former deputies of different levels. Only state officials refuse to sign it for the fear to lose their jobs.
