As the BelaPAN informs, former candidates for the parliament belonging to the entrepreneurs’ have started a campaign for finding the latest election to the parliament invalid.

Ihar Lednik, a proxy of the candidate Anatol Bukas at Barysau town constituency #62, says: ‘We stopped complaining to constituency commissions, as all of us know it’s just a waste of time. That’s why we made emphasis on the violations that could be considered within the frames of the Criminal Code. First of al, it concerns the violations during the forming of precinct election commissions which we consider as abuse of official powers. When Bukas was not registered as candidate and then the Central election commission reversed this ruling, we complained about interference with realization of the electoral rights.’

Mr. Lednik is of the opinion that starting from 1996 all elections were conducted under the total control of the executive authorities and the forming of parliament was conducted with mass violations of the electoral rights of citizens.

‘All complaints that were directed to the procuracy were also submitted to the Central election commission of Belarus. On 27 the new convocation of the Chamber of Representatives will come in power. According to the regulations, in the case of law violations the powers of an elected deputy can be found invalid. That’s why in our address to the Central election commission we demand to examine the results of the procuracy’s check-ups concerning our applications and then decide whether to give the official powers to the new convocation of the parliament,’ says Lednik.

The human rights activist also calls all democratic candidates for deputies to join this campaing. According to him, it has already been done by Ihar Rynkevich and Volha Kazulina.

‘We want to initiate non-recognition of the powers of the deputies who have come to power in a non-constitutional way,’ states Ihar Lednik. The European structures and BDIHR OSCE have been already informed about this initiative.
