Homel newspapers published positive comments of CIS observer Anatoly Bekeshchenko about organization of the election process in Homel region.

On August 19th Homelskiya Vedamastsi publish an article “without remarks”, where they cite Anatoly Bekeshchenko: “On the whole, everything is done within the Election Code and meets the deadlines. I have no remarks”. On August 20th, in the Savetski Rayon newspaper the observer claims, election commissions “work well, in an organized way, and in accordance with the legislation”. We learn from the newspaper that the observer came to such conclusion having observed the work of six district commissions, and visited sessions of some precinct commissions.
Unlike their colleagues from the CIS misson, OSCE observers refrain from such comments. State newspaper Homelskiya Vedamastsi (August 23rd) confirm that in article “Europe is observing us”: “the guests refused from giving any evaluation of what they had seen, referring to the fact that their status of observers did not allow them to do so”.
