Smarhon: Dirty techniques of pressure on UDF candidate

Pressure on pro-democratic candidate Iryna Veshtard does not only stop, but grows stronger. Iryna Veshtard registered her initiative group in Smarhon district commission # 59 on Monday, July 21st. Intimidation began immediately.
Her doors were stained with black paint, and door lock broken. The next night someone broke her window with a stone.
The new turn of pressure started on July 25th with two incidents. All day long Iryna’s phone was “attacked” with calls from men. All of them found her number on a web-page in “sex” section.
Also on July 25th leaflets in Russian language on behalf of Iryna Veshtard were spread in Smarhon. The leaflets said she wanted to run to parliament and asked to support her with 5, 000 BYR. The leaflets also contained her address and phone number.
