Hrodna: district electoral commissions are formed secretly

The joint sitting of Hrodna oblast executive committee and Hrodna oblast soviet of deputies was to have taken place at 10 a.m. on 14 July, but when representatives of parties, NGos and press came to the specified place, the sitting was already over and the composition of the commission has been already announced.

Before the sitting the democratic political parties nominated their representatives to all 13 district electoral commissions. After the sitting it became known that the member of the United Civil Party Alexander Pahuliayeu was included in Hrodna village district electoral commission #52. He also got an official invitation to the first sitting of the commission, which will take place on 15 July at 10 a.m. According to preliminary information, some more representatives of democratic parties have been included in the electoral commissions as well.

Human rights activists, journalists, members of political parties and democratic nominees to the commissions phoned to Hrodna oblast executive committee to find about results of the sitting. However, its representative Leanid Yermantovich refused from giving comments and said that everything would be published in the local press. Meanwhile, the nearest number of the state edition, Hrodzenskaya Prauda, will be issued on Wednesday, 16 July only.
