The underground youth organization Young Front is against participation in the so-called parliamentary election appointed on autumn by the Belarusian authorities.

‘Participation in such ‘election’ is not only useless, but also absurd. It may only legitimate self-proclaimed Lukashenka’s regime. The vote of the Belarusian people has been already stolen,’ is declared in the Young Front statement, published on the site of the organization.

‘The parliamentary campaign hasn’t started yet, but the future ‘election’ more and more resembles one actor’s performance. There remain more than four months before the election, and the head of the Central Election Commission of Belarus, Lidziya Yarmoshyna, has already declared that she wasn’t entitled to include party representatives into electoral commissions; the Presidential Administration in the person of Natallia Piatkevich, said it wouldn’t have a dialog with the opposition on the issue of elections. Uncovered farce shows that the authorities are not going to liberalize the election legislation and voting process,’ sat the youth activists.

The Young Front calls on the Belarusians to ‘boycott the pseudo-elections and come to Kalinouski Square on the election day’.

‘Lukashenka will count the votes of the Belarusians only in one case: if each of us comes to the main square of Belarus, the square of Kastus Kalinouski. It is the only place in our country, where the lies of the Central Election Commission doesn’t work, the only place, where the ‘strong’ authorities become weak and coward. The only place, where our votes give a hope for changes in Belarus!’ the Young Front says.
