Younger daughter of political prisoner Alyaksandr Kazulin addressed a letter to Alyaksandr Lukashenka. The girl asks to allow to “bury mother in accordance with Christian and simply human, moral laws. The dearest man for her – her husband – should pay last tribute to her.”
President of the Republic of Belarus
Alyaksandr Lukashenka,
Hard troubles have fallen on our mother Iryna Kazulina’s lot for last years. For the last ten years she has been bravely fighting against terrible disease – cancer. She was fighting with varying success. Sometimes the disease retreated, and we, the family, had a hope... When in 2005 the disease came back, mother was surprisingly optimistic and quiet. She even had strength to help other women who had the same trouble...
She bore awful pain for the last months, banned us, relatives, to say to anybody about her torment. She held on to the last. She didn’t want to complain. She was a very strong woman.
Mother died in our arms. We know exactly her the heart’s desire – see her husband a free man. This desire is already in the past... Mother didn’t wait.
Allow us daughters to bury our mother in accordance with Christian, and simply human and moral laws. The dearest man for her – her husband – should pay last tribute to her.
