Radio Svaboda has learnt about that after the journalist’s mother Hanna Zdzvizhkova visited Minsk remand prison.
She hadn’t been allowed to send a parcel to her son. The woman was directed to Minsk colony in Kalvaryiskaya Street, where the Republican prison hospital is situated.
‘They haven’t taken the food there either. They told to come on Wednesday, where they have a visiting day. Besides, then doctors will tell why my son was put in hospital,’ Hanna said.
A month ago Minsk city court found the journalist guilty of inciting religious enmity and sentenced him to three years of imprisonment, because in February 2006 the Zgoda newspaper temporarily headed by A.Zdzvizhkou had republished cartoons of Muhammad.
In the court Alyaksandr Zdzvizhkou stated that it was a persecution on religious grounds. Many people in Belarus and around the world demand release of A. Zdzvizhkou, believing he is a prisoner of conscience.
