Unlawful Search in Office of Congress of Democratic Trade Unions

The Belarusian Congress of Democratic Trade Unions (BCDTU) lodged a legal application to Ihar Ukrainets, prosecutor of Leninski district of Minsk, in connection with unlawful actions in the office of trade union.
The application says a group of people in civvies and in police uniform burst into the office of BCDTU in Yakubau Street at about 8 p.m. on 6 December 2007. Some young activists of the trade unions movement were in the office at that time. The abovementioned people searched and took pictures of the office and confiscated office equipment. Moreover, the members of the trade union Mikola Serhiyenka and Aleh Korban were detained without lawful grounds and guarded to Leninski district police department of Minsk. BCDTU demands the prosecutor to take urgent measures concerning the abovementioned violations of the law.
