Politicial Prisoner Finkevich to Be Tried on 20 December

According to the information of Mahiliou human rights activist Barys Bukhel, the consideration of the criminal case against Artur Finkevich was appointed on 20 December. The trial will start at 10.30 a.m. The court has directed to Mahiliou state university a request to provide an interpreter into Belarusian.

Bear in mind that on 9 December Finkevich’s term of corrective labor (to which he was sentenced to political graffiti) ended. However, the administration of Mahiliou open prison where Finkevich was serving the term issued the fourth disciplinary reprimand to him. Artur Finkevich was transferred to an investigative isolator, and a criminal case for evasion from serving corrective labor was brought against him. The maximal punishment under this article is three years of jail.
