Action in Support of Entrepreneurs

On 6 December youth activists held an action in support of the entrepreneurs’ demands to the authorities.
At about 7 p.m. about ten young people fastened a banner Freedom to Private Business to the railing of the bridge linking Nezalezhnasti Avenue and Maskouskaya Street. Then they walked down Maskouskaya Street, spreading leaflets with calls to support the entrepreneurs’ demands and come to their rally on 10 December.
The entrepreneurs are going to hold a meeting in Kastrychnitskaya Square to protest against the enforcement of presidential decree #760 of 29 December 2006.
According to this paragraph 1.1 of this decree since 1 January 2008 individual entrepreneurs can employ only their family members and close relatives. The representatives of Minsk City executive Committee and the Ministry of Internal Affairs said at the meeting with applicants for the action that holding a meeting in Kastrychnitskaya Square was banned. The entrepreneurs did not agree to this and declared the meeting would take place in Kastrychnitskaya Square athwart the ban.
