Vital Stazharau Fined

Savetski district court of Minsk has considered an administrative case against the activist of the Young Democrats Vital Stazharau. Yesterday Stazharau was detained at Kamarouski market for handing out leaflets with invitations to the meeting of entrepreneurs that will take place on 10 December in Kastrychnitskaya Square. 

As Human Rights Center Viasna learned, during the trial it became clear that the violation report on Stazharau was composed by the police inspector, who did not participate in the activist’s detention. The text of the leaflets did not contain concrete calls to take part in the meeting, but only informed the people that the application for such a meeting has been filed with Minsk city executive committee. For unknown reasons the judge Aksana Reliava ignored these arguments and punished Stazharau with about 144 USD fine. 

Bear in mind that Stazharau was detained by the guards of Kamarouski market on the order of its deputy director. Then he was taken to Savetski district police department of Minsk. He spent the night at the remand prison in Akrestsin Street.
