Despite a heavy rain 8 Belarusian women stood near the Belarusian Embassy in Kyiv holding posters with the demands of resignation of the Prosecutor General and the chair of the Supreme Court of Belarus and a slogan ‘Power Belongs to the People, Not to Officials’.

The press-secretary of the United Civil Party Katsiaryna Tkachenka was present at the action. She said to BelaPAN information agency that the action had no political motivation. ‘The women came on their own. They can’t get justice in their country. They need legal, well-grounded and motivated court verdicts in the cases of their relatives. As the authorities prohibited them to hold a picket in Minsk, they are trying to draw public attention in Kyiv,’ she commented.



Being ask about the participants’ expectations from the action, K.Tkachenka said they are going to pass to the Embassy and appeal to Aliaksandr Lukashenka. ‘There is a complete enumeration of all violations that took place during the investigation and trials in the cases of their relatives. They have no other ways, as they receive only formal come-offs to all their complaints to different Belarusian instances.’
