On 5 January Andrei Iuruts, a third-year student of jurisprudence department was expelled from Baranavichy State University. Last year he was expelled from the university before the election, but was rehabilitated at his place of study thanks to assistance of OSCE observers. This expulsion was evidently prepared long ago, but the university administration could not find a suitable reason.

Andrei Iuruts actively worked in the election headquarters of Aliaksandr Milinkevich, a democratic candidate to presidential position. Mr. Iuruts is a youth activist who has been often detained by the police. He was also a witness in the criminal case that was brought against another student of Baranavichy State University, Siarhei Malchyk, under article 193 of the Criminal Code, activity on behalf of unregistered organization. In connection with this case the police searched Iuruts’ flat, confiscated his computer and information carriers. The university rector and the dean of the jurisprudence department often allowed open statements that this student would be expelled. Finally, they managed to do it.
