Mikalai Statkevich’s Father Applies to Head of Department of Punishment Execution
According to www.charter97.org
Viktar Statkevichm, the father of the head of the Belarusian Social Democratic Party (Hramada), political prisoner Mikalai Statkevich has applied to V.Kouchur, chair of the department of punishment execution of the Republic of Belarus.
Viktar Statkevich reminds that in July 2005 he applied to the department with the statement in which he asked to send his son Mikalai Statkevich to Baranavichy where he lives, due to the fact that he experienced a hard oncological operation and has no other relatives on the territory of Belarus. This statement was satisfied and on 29 July 2005 Mikalai Statkevich was transferred to Baranavichy corrective labor facility (CLF) #2. On 4 September 2006 Mikalai Statkevich was transferred to Pukhavichy district of Minsk region without explanation of the reasons. Viktar Statkevich asked the deputy chair of CLF #2 S.Stalmakhovich about the reasons for the transfer. Stalmakhovich said that there allegedly was a prosecutor’s protest against the fact that the prisoner was spending his term outside his region.
In the latest application Viktar Statkevich asks why the question of conditional release of his son hasn’t been considered, why the son wasn’t allowed to visit the father and why the son was forced to work for almost 100 hours a week.
