Milinkevich Detained in Vitebsk

On November 23 leader of the United Democratic Forces Alexander Milinkevich was detained in Vitebsk region. He was collecting signatures for his supporters in Vitebsk region. On the way from Polatsak the car with Milinkevich was stopped by traffic police. They said the car driven by Christafor Zhelapau, head of Vitebsk HQ of the former candidate, was suspected of participation in a traffic accident.

Milinkevich and Zhelapau were taken to the regional department o traffic police. In some time they were released. After inspection and check of the car the police found out that it had not taken part in the accident. According to Charter’97 the policemen gave their apologies to Alexander Milinkevich.
