Brest CEC Prohibits Collecting Signatures in Populous Places

Uladzimir Vialichkin, is collecting signatures for his registration as a candidate to Brest regional and Brest city deputy soviets. Recently he has applied to Brest City Executive Committee for permission to hold pickets for collecting signatures near Iubileiny and Uskhodni supermarkets in Brest on 25 November – 4 December and received refusal.
In his answer to Vialichkin’s application the deputy chair of Brest City Executive Committee Viachaslau Khafizau stated that such pickets don’t meet the demands of the law On mass actions in the Republic of Belarus and therefore the pickets could not be allowed.
