Homel: Andrei Baranau Is Fired

The directorate of bus park #1 of Homel has not prolonged the contract with the head of the Belarusian Independent Trade Union of Radio-electronic industry, a member of the Belarusian People’s Front party Andrei Baranau. The deputy director of the bus depot on ideology and cadres Irah Ihnatsenka stated that as far as A.Baranau is a member of an independent trade union, he cannot work at the enterprise.

According to RFE/RL Andrei Baranau challenged the cancellation of the contract with him in Homel regional department of the State Labour inspection. A.Baranau and other drivers demanded to raise salaries many times.

Earlier members of the independent trade union branch Aliaksandr Iauseichuk and Siarhei Shvedau were fired from bus depot #1.

The suit in the case of reinstating Siarhei Shvedau in his job is to be considered by the court of Savetski borough of Homel.
