Brest: Five Activists Sentenced to Huge Fines for Participation in Solidarity Day Action

On 15 November Brest Maskouski Borough Court considered the administrative cases that were brought against five democratic activists for participation in an unauthorized action dedicated to the Solidarity Day on 16 October. According to the chair of Brest city organization of the BPF Party Zmitser Shymanski, Anatol Iarmak was fined 930 000 rubles (about 400 US dollars), Andrei Sharenda – 1 550 000 rubles (about 700 US dollars) and the remaining three – 620 000 rubles (about 270 US dollars).
