A criminal case has been brought up against the activist of the Union of Poles in Belarus Mechyslau Iaskevich. On 5 November Iaskevich was placed to the special detention center of Kastrychnitski borough of Hrodna, and on 7 November he was suddenly released.

Mechyslau Iaskevich was detained late at night on a trolley-bus stop. According to the policemen, he allegedly provoked a fight. That is why a case under article 339 (hooliganism) was brought against him.

On 7 November the activist of the Union of Poles in Belarus Mechyslau Iaskevich was suddenly released. On that day in the evening a meeting of Hrodna city branch of the UPB was planned. Participants of the meeting were to agree on the date of holding the rally with the slogan ‘Freedom to Mechyslau Iaskevich!’ As the UPB activists believe, the authorities released Iaskevich to disrupt that protest rally.
