Salihorsk youth continue distributing information about the hunger-strike declared by entrepreneur Valery Baranouski. The police have a negative attitude to such activity. As a result, they detained the activist of Young Front Ivan Shyla. They used force, intimidated and insulted him at the police station. The friends who came there to support there were told to come in. Then the policemen put down their passport data. Several hours later they released the detainee. His mother, Sviatlana Shyla, composed a complaint to the chair of the local police.
˜The authorities are afraid of publicity. The local mass media give no information about the hunger-strike, that’s why we conduct our own informational campaign. What concerns the behavior of the police – it is a common thing in our country. The law machinery is a means of intimidation of democratic activists. I don’t think the complaint will make any difference. A month ago we composed another complaint and received some come-off from the prosecutor’s office,’ said Ivan Shyla to the press service of the Young Front.
