According to the on-line newspaper, the President of the Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly, Renй van der Linden, welcomes EU Presidents position on the issue of Belarus isolation. The new position was aired by the Finnish foreign minister on July 12, who admitted that the policy of isolation led to a poor result.
Rene van der Linden once again emphasized that although there is deep disaccord with Belarus, the only way of improving the situation is a dialog.
- Finland, as the chair of the EU, which unites 25 countries, and Russia, as the chair of the Council of Europe, with 46 members, can develop this dialog together. Moreover, I am ready to go to Belarus, if it could help this country develop democracy, - said van der Linden.
