According to the Assembly of NGOs press-service, Valer Matskevich was summonsed to testify in a criminal case initiated against Young Front (Article 193.1 of the Criminal Code).
The activist was asked questions concerning Young Fronts activity. Then he was told to look through the tape-scripts of telephone conversations between the organizations members and the records of Young Front Central Councils assembly. The interrogation lasted for over five hours.
- During the interrogation the investigator spoke on the phone and as I think was asked to do his best to make me confess to acting on behalf of Young Front. At the end of the conversation I was asked to confess to the commited crimes, in order to avoid being treated as a suspect in the case. It is legally absurd to propose a witness to confess. says Matskevich.
Valer Matskevich was the first witness in the case to be produced telephone tape-scripts as an evidence.
