On June 16 the Young Front members that have been on hunger-strike since May 29 addressed the leaders of the G-8, including George Bush, Angela Merkel, Tony Blair, Romano Prodi, Jaques Chirac, Junichiro Koizumi and Stephen Harper:
Dear G-8 leaders! We, representatives of the Belarusian people, national movement activists, address you, as the most powerful people of the world. We call on you not to take part in the G-8 summit in Saint Petersburg. The civilized world cannot support the imperial Russia, which keeps defending the despotical regime in Belarus. We also call on you to do your best in order to:
1) stop the political repressions in Belarus
2) prevent Anschluss of Belarus by Russia
We, the Belarusian youth, believe in a democratic and free future for Belarus.
We have fought and will continue to fight for the Freedom and Independence of the Heart of Europe. Our address is a call for solidarity. Long live Belarus! Long live democracy!
