Talented young musician to be expelled from musical school
A 18-year-old Sviatlana Stsehantsava entered the department of oboe of Akhremchyk Republican College of Art. She won the first prize at the Republican Wind and Percussion Instruments Contest in 2004. In 2005 she received an award from the Presidents Special Fund for Talented Youth Support. Since 2005 she has been a member of the BPF party. During the presidential election campaign of 2006 Sviatlana organized a number of concerts for the democratic youth. She also distributed newspapers and leaflets, and agitated for protest actions. She was in the tent camp since the first day. The girl faced serious problems during the summer session after the administration of the college received information about Sviatlanas active participation in the democratic movement.
Sviatlana was recommended to leave the college on her own will, but the girl refused to do it. It is very difficult to study when the college with old traditions is gradually turning into a casern. I do not see any future for my creative career in this college. So Im somewhat happy to be expelled, but I am really sorry for my country, because I have great compassion on the students who suffer administrative pressure and are slowly becoming weak-willed. I want to address all the students who have suffered from oppression. The truth is ours! Freedom is ours! Struggle and do not fear!
Now Sviatlana is going to continue her education in one of Europes musical schools.
