Baranavichy: Representatives of Pro-governmental Youth Union Try to Disrupt Meeting of Aliaksandr Milinkevich with Electorate
According to RFE/RL
On 5 March in Baranavichy the candidate of the united democratic forces to the presidential position Aliaksandr Milinkevich met with the electorate in Baranavichy. There he faced an action that was aimed of disruption of the meeting. At first a crowd of people came to the entrance of the building where the meeting was taken place and started shouting For Lukashenka! Then the members of the pro-governmental youth organization Belarusian National Youth Union (BRSM) and the members of the pro-governmental Communist Party of Belarus (CPB) who were present at the meeting started shouting, whistling and tearing Milinkevich’s portraits. Milinkevich’s microphone was turned off for some time.
However, Milinkevich didn’t lose the control of his audience and a part of aggressive adherents of Lukashenka left the building. Aliaksandr Milinkevich stated that instead of open TV debates his rival was sending his hooligans to his meetings. More than 800 persons came to the meeting. There wasn’t enough space for all of them in the building, that’s why a part of them stood outside.
