Two citizens of Vitsebsk - KGB pensioner Anufryi Ramanovich and the pensioner of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Aliaksandr Mikulin filed with mass media the appeal to the candidates to the presidential position, the law machinery, the local authorities and other citizens of the Republic of Belarus.

The appeal was devoted to the presidential election and was timed to the 3rd All-Belarusian People’s Assembly. The pensioners wrote that their aim was to remind the present authorities that ‘every person has the right to free and honest election’. That’s why they applied to officials of all levels with the demand ‘not to interfere with the will of the citizens and abstain from executing the orders that contradicted to the legal norms and violate human rights and liberties’.

They also reminded to the state officials that they ‘will bear personal responsibility for non-execution or improper execution of their official duties’ and urged the Belarusian citizens to make their honest choice on 19 March.

The appeal ended with the words ‘Down with isolation, we are a European country!’
