This is the information provided to Radio Liberty by Aliaxandra Skrabiets, the former deputy’s wife, who passed drugs and glasses to her husband in the detention center.
The former deputy of the House of Representatives of the former convocation Siarhei Skrabiets sentenced on 14 February to two and a half years of imprisonment is still in the Minsk detention center. There he will remain until the authorities decide where Skrabiest will serve his imprisonment.
On 21 February Aliaxandra, Skrabiets’s wife, filed a petition requiring that her husband remains in Minsk. As a professional doctor, she believes that Siarhei has spoiled his health through several long-term hunger-strikes and nervous overloads. For this reason, the relations of the former parliamentary would like him to serve the sentence in the capital: it is easier to transfer the medical drugs and high-calorie groceries. All the more so that recently the health of the former deputy got worse, his eyesight deteriorated – so they bought him glasses.
Recently Siarhei Skrabiets was visited by his parents and daughter. They say that though the deterioration of his health he still possesses spiritual integrity - taking an active interest in the ongoing election campaign. Aliaxandr Skrabiest says that the relations are happy for Siarhei.
