Tatsiana Khoma, a 4 year student of the international economic relations department of Belarusian State Economic University, was expelled from the university.
The administration order says that the university administration had revealed the independent and ungrounded departure of the student Tatsiana Khoma for France and the student’s stay in this country from November 11 to November 14 2005 during academic studies. Considering the complicated internal political situation and the introduced state of emergency in the cities of France, the action of the student T.Khoma might have led to unpredictable tragic consequences. The behavior of the named student must be qualified not only as flagrant (and repeated) violation of the internal university rules, but also as open disrespect for the BSEU as an organization that is legally and morally responsible for providing security of the students during academic studies.
On November 25 the university rector told Tatsiana that she had been expelled from the university.
Tatsiana Khoma said that the real reason why she had been expelled was political. Two weeks ago she was elected to the Board of the Union of National Students’ Association of Europe (ESIB), the largest European students’ organization that deals with the defense of the rights and interests of the students in Europe.
Tatsiana attended the ESIB congress in France, which elected the new leadership of the organization. (according to Radio Liberty).
